No. The chiller holds your set temperature 24/7 and the ozone + filtration keep the water clean, so there's no ice and far less water changing.
It's a heat-pump chiller — much cheaper than buying ice — and runs at around the noise level of a home air-conditioner. With a cover on, it sips power holding temperature.
